TOLER INTERVIEWED, NO RESPONSE FROM BIESTERVELD

Boyd Toler accepts invite, still hoping Evan Biesterveld will accept invite to talk about race

By Darrin McDonald

Numerous people have now asked me for my opinion on the Primary Judge’s election between Boyd Toler and Evan Biesterveld. To date, I have told them all that my only request is that they inform themselves on the issues set out by the candidates and vote their conscience. I have typically gotten a puzzled look in response with the question something to the effect of “what are the issues”?

In that regard, Pike County Unleashed has proposed that each candidate be interviewed with six questions condensed into an approximate ten minute segment. Five will be identical for each candidate; the sixth will be unique to each candidate based upon individual questions that we have heard voters express about that candidate’s background. For maximum transparency, the candidates will know each question in advance. In practicality, it will need to be edited to approximately ten minutes for posting. Finally, we have agreed that the respective candidate will have his or her respective interview forwarded to him 24 hours in advance of drop, with right of first refusal to elect that it not run- provided however, that it is an all or nothing proposition. Either the interview runs as edited or it will not run and we will succinctly post the candidates veto decision on Pike County Unleashed.

Boyd Toler has agreed to an interview, which we hope to have posted by the end of the week. We are still waiting to hear from candidate, Evan Biesterveld, who we sincerely hope will accept our invitation! The point is not to help either side, but rather, to help the voter make the decision.
